Master Starkeiller (Athens, Greece)

by email (September 2004)

I see you have finally posted your timeline on the Net. Well, I had a look at it, and I can say it was the only piece missing from my Star Wars timeline collection. I have simple timelines without descriptions of the events mentioned, timelines with descriptions of the events mentioned, timelines with detailed descriptions of the events mentioned, timelines with in-universe calendars, and timelines with Earth calendars. But an ultra-detailed timeline with descriptions of events, incredible wealth of sources, and exact up to the hour in-universe calendar was something I had never seen before. The improvement of this online version from the one you had sent me may seem subtle, but to a true fan it is immense, and I'm sure you understand what I mean.

Your timeline is under construction, and it will be for as long as it exists, since Star Wars never, ever ends. Its material is so great, I do not care about the appearance. It is plain, and this is right. Anyway, I found your timeline PERFECT, and worthy of adding to My Favorites. It IS The Star Wars Bible. When I need something about Star Wars, I'll know where to look. A big, fat, Greek CONGRATULATIONS!

Reading your p.s. in your Word of Welcome proved my suspicions true. You have worked hard for this timeline. Reading it made me understand how much hard work was put in there, and how much its creator truly loves Star Wars. I knew the Force was with you.

It is a fun read; it's helping me plan my RPG campaign around important events, just seeing them summarised and ordered helps me get my head around the time. Thanks.

I love your timeline, Eddie. Oddly, though, the more complex I see other timelines becoming, the more I am tempted to further simplify my own.

Eddie: It just struck me last night, and I thought you'd find it interesting.

A few years ago, back when I was still in Indiana and in college, I was the owner/registrant of both starwarstimeline.com and swtimeline.com. That was actually how my Star Wars Timeline Gold (and previous releases) started to get attention between the days of languishing on Angelfire and Xoom at obscure addresses and finally ending up on StarWarz.com with T'Bone. I let them expire years ago when I ended up with starwarz.com/timeline out of respect for Lou, wanting to have "StarWarz" be in the names people saw when going to the site.

I'm glad to see that the domain ended up in the hands of someone actually doing a SW timeline project, not just someone who wanted to gobble up tons of domain names with the words "Star Wars" in them.

Nice work. Not many people use the 10-month system, but I really prefer it. I like the in-universe feel.

While your calendar is a nice idea, I find it a little hard to follow. Most other sources use ANH as Year 0, and thus I'm used to that system - as are most other fans, I assume. I know it would make more sense in-universe to begin the timeline elsewhere (Great Resynchronization, even the birth of the Empire) but not as good from a real-world point of view.  That aside, you've done a very good job; I'll make sure to explore the timeline more thoroughly.

Wow, I just have to say what an amazing job you're doing! I'm avoiding the year 16 section as I want to remain spoiler free, but this is by far the most complete work I have ever seen! Keep up the great work man! And it's nice to see someone place LoE as a greater source than CW V.2. Can't wait to see how you tackle the New Jedi Order when you're done with the films (if that's still the plan!).

I leave Eddie to all the really detailed stuff! My timeline is far less specific as it's purpose is more to provide the proper order in which to read (and watch) stories in the Star Wars EU.
