The survival of the Republic depends on two factors: wise governing by administrators and lawmakers, and the preservation of harmony and justice by the Jedi. It is a practice for Jedi to become guardians of new star systems, overseeing transitions and assisting with local difficulties.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic # 9 (Flashpoint Interlude: Homecoming)                                                                                                                                   page 7

01:18, evening (Core Worlds: Coruscant, Republic City): At the Draay Estate, Haazen tells Jedi Consular Lady Krynda Draay that the Jedi have someone else for her to see. Krynda Draay replies that her answer is the same as always: he has to send them away as she wants nothing more to do with the Jedi or their wars. But her assistant, a failed Padawan, remarks that they will keep coming as the Sith War took many seers, and there are few left who can teach. Haazen remarks that since it has been four years since her loss, the Jedi had hoped that she would resume her teaching of seers. Suddenly, Lady Krynda Draay senses something, remarking that the student the Jedi brought is special. She tells Haazen to ask the Jedi to send her up. Haazen replies that she is already here as the Miraluka youngling named Q’anilia knew Lady Draay would ask to see her. (note: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic # 9 states that this event occurs ‘thirty years ago’)

Star Wars: The New Essential Chronology (Tales of the Ancient Republic: Legacy of the Sith: The Great Hunt)                                                                                 page 21

04:23, day - evening (Outer Rim Territories, Raioballo sector: Dantooine): After another successful terentatek hunt, this one on Tatooine, the three renown Jedi Knights Duron Qel-Droma, Shaela Nuur and Guun Han Saresh return to the Council on Dantooine. There, Jedi Master Aleco informs them that the Great Hunt is nearly over. Qel-Droma replies that he thought the Jedi Council announced the end of the hunt two standard days ago. Aleco explains that although the Great Hunt has ended officially, there is still one world left to cleanse: the Sith homeworld of Korriban. They are the chosen ones to deal with this mission.

Late at night, the Jedi Masters of the Dantooine Council discuss the mission to Korriban. Jedi Master Vrook thinks it is not wise to send a Qel-Droma to Korriban. But Jedi Master Bala remarks that Ulic Qel-Droma was the only Qel-Droma who ever fell to the dark side: they cannot judge Duron, or any Jedi, by their blood alone. Jedi Master Qual poins out that Coruscant does not want a large part of Jedi on Korriban as there is too much risk: that is why the Jedi Council has chosen these three, and Qual feels they must abide by the Council’s decision. (note: Shadows and Light takes place ‘three years after the war of Exar Kun’. And this event takes place ‘one week’ after the mission on Tatooine)

Yesterday, Jedi Master Aleco informed them that althought the Great Hunt is nearly over, there is still one world left to cleanse: the Sith homeworld of Korriban. 04:29, evening – night (Outer Rim Territories, Horuset system: Korriban, Dreshdae settlement): With the Sith seemingly extinguished in the Sith War three years ago, attention turned to cleanup and Jedi Knights were sent on a ‘dragon quest’ as terentateks, alchemically birthed Sith monstrosities that feed on Force-strong blood, still prowl the Rim worlds. Duron Qel-Droma, cousin of the fallen Jedi Knight Ulic Qel-Droma, joins with his lover, Shaela Nuur, and the hard-bitten Twi’lek brawler Guun Han Saresh to slay the last of the terentateks on Korriban, the Sith homeworld.

Duron Qel-Droma and Shaela Nuur make contact with two information-brokers, a Quarren and an Ithorian. They are willing to provide information for a price: a kilo of spice. In the meantime, Guun Har Saresh uses his charms to steal a datachip from a young Twi’lek Sith-devotee. (note: Shadows and Light takes place ‘three years after the war of Exar Kun’. 04:30, morning (Outer Rim Territories, Horuset system: Korriban, Dreshdae settlement): With the Sith seemingly extinguished in the Sith War three years ago, attention turned to cleanup and Jedi Knights were sent on a ‘dragon quest’ as terentateks, alchemically birthed Sith monstrosities that feed on Force-strong blood, still prowl the Rim worlds.

Duron Qel-Droma is not feeling well, remarking that Korriban is changing them. Shaela Nuur points out that after a week, they already have a good lead on a terentatek. But Qel-Droma is breaking down, telling her that he is sick of hunting: when he makes contact with a terentatek, he can hear their thoughts. Suddenly, he experiences a powerful vision in which he sees Sith Lords destroying worlds. When the young Jedi tells Nuur that he is scared, she caresses and kisses him. Just then, Guun Han Saresh enters: he is enraged to see the two Jedi kissing, pointing out that it is a disgrace. Furious, Shaela Nuur remarks that they know the Jedi Code, but Saresh replies that they are walking the path of the dark side. When Duron Qel-Droma wants to stop the argument, his actions accidentally blow out the appartment’s windows. Calming down, Guun Han Saresh asks the two if they can control their passion. Qel-Droma replies that if that means they will have to renounce their love, than they cannot. The Twi’lek explains that they will put the mission in peril, and that he cannot trust that: they have to go their separate ways. He hands over a small datachip, remarking that it will get them into the Valley of the Dark Lords where they will find their terentateks. Advising them to leave Korriban at once, Guun Han Saresh leaves. During his stay on Korriban, the Twi’lek Jedi learned of a great beast that lives in the shadowlands beneath the mile-high wroshyr trees of Kashyyyk, and he decides to pursue that lead instead. (note: Shadows and Light takes place ‘three years after the war of Exar Kun’. And these event on Korriban take place an in-universe ‘week’ after the Jedi’s arrival on the world)

04:33, day (Mid Rim, Sumitra sector: Kashyyyk): The hard-bitten Twi’lek Jedi Guun Han Saresh has left his friends, Jedi Knights Duron Qel-Droma and Shaela Nuur, on Korriban to pursue another terentatek lead to Kashyyyk. This is one of the last terentateks, alchemically birthed Sith monstrosities that feed on Force-strong blood, that still prowls the Rim worlds following the Sith War. During his time on Korriban, Han Saresh heard of a great beast that lives in the shadowlands beneath the mile-high wroshyr trees of Kashyyyk.

Arriving in one of the Wookiee tree-cities, Guun Han Saresh learns that the beast has killed many Jedi. During his hunt, the Twi’lek Jedi contemplates the events on the dark-side world of Korriban: he finds it unfortunate that Duron Qel-Droma and Shaela Nuur decided to stay behind for in that dark place, their passion will probably consume them. Suddenly, Guun Han Saresh is attacked by the giant beast: not able to handle the situation by himself, the Twi’lek Jedi is killed. (note: Shadows and Light takes place ‘three years after the war of Exar Kun’. And these events on Kashyyyk take place ‘three days later’ then the events on Korriban)

04:33, day  (Outer Rim Territories, Horuset system: Korriban, Dreshdae settlement): With the Sith seemingly extinguished in the Sith War three years ago, attention turned to cleanup and Jedi Knights were sent on a ‘dragon quest’ as terentateks, alchemically birthed Sith monstrosities that feed on Force-strong blood, still prowl the Rim worlds. Duron Qel-Droma, cousin of the fallen Jedi Knight Ulic Qel-Droma, joined with his lover, Shaela Nuur, and the hard-bitten Twi’lek brawler Guun Han Saresh to slay the last of the terentateks on Korriban, the Sith homeworld. But when Han Saresh decided to leave the world as the dark-side begun to consume them, Qel-Droma and Nuur decided to stay and finish their mission.

In the Valley of the Dark Lords, a sheltered canyon of tombs and riches, Duron Qel-Droma and Shaela Nuur sense Guun Han Saresh’s death through the Force. But they have no time to mourn as they are near the terentatek. Suddenly, the giant beast appears before them and attacks. One of it’s claws grabs Qel-Droma while another pushes Nuur, who managed to wound the creature, aside. When Duron Qel-Droma is thrown away, Nuur rushes over to him. Dying, Qel-Droma experiences another vision. He tells Nuur that all finally makes sense: there is no chaos, and Revan will find and use the Qel-Droma robe. When Shaela Nuur replies that she does not understand, the man she loves explains that they did complete the mission: the future is full of light now. He remarks that the Force works in strange ways, telling her to leave him behind in the valley. With his last words, Duron Qel-Droma tells Shaela Nuur that he loves her. Hugging him, Nuur replies that she loves him too.

Shaela Nuur tracks the wounded terentatek to the tomb of Dark Lord of the Sith Naga Sadow. No longer caring about Jedi Codes, she wants revenge as she feels that only blood can wash these emotions from her mind. Entering the tomb, all she sees is darkness before her. As she proceeds into the tomb, she asks Jedi Master Ood Bnar to forgive her for having fallen so far. When she finally finds the terentatek and attacks it, she hears Master Ood’s words echo in her mind: she will accomplish great things in her life, but she has to remember to always stay in the light. Suddenly, as the terentatek charges, the ancient Solari focusing crystal in her lightsaber, which senses her fall to the dark side of the Force, falters. (note: Shadows and Light takes place ‘three years after the war of Exar Kun’. And these events take place ‘three days later’ after Guun Han Saresh left Korriban)
