The survival of the Republic depends on two factors:
wise governing by administrators and lawmakers, and the preservation of harmony
and justice by the Jedi. It is a practice for Jedi to become guardians of new
star systems, overseeing transitions and assisting with local difficulties.

10:12, evening (Outer Rim Territories, Sumitra sector: Yavin IV): After completing a pilgrimage to the grave site of his brother, Cay
Qel-Droma, the former Jedi Ulic Qel-Droma continues his long and fruitless
search for some way that he might become a Jedi again:
he had been stripped of his powers by Jedi Knight Nomi Sunrider after he had
killed his only brother two years ago. Landing his newly-christened
ship, Cay´s Dream, on the fourth moon of Yavin, he has to see what has
happened after the Jedi attack on Dark Lord of the Sith Exar Kun´s stronghold
two years earlier. Trying to reach out with his feelings, Ulic Qel-Droma senses
nothing as he is blind and deaf to the Force. Still
searching, still lost, Ulic Qel-Droma walks away from the Great Temple.
But inside the Great Temple, the trapped spirit of
Dark Lord of the Sith Exar Kun desperately tries to reach out to Ulic
Qel-Droma. But to no avail. (note: although Star Wars: The
Comics Companion has this comicbook mini-series dated at 3,991.5 BBY, this
is an erroneously date which has been corrected by Leland Chee and other publications.
Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi: The Sith War # 6 states that this event
occurs ´two years´ after the defeat of Exar Kun at Yavin IV)
