The survival of the Republic depends on two factors:
wise governing by administrators and lawmakers, and the preservation of harmony
and justice by the Jedi. It is a practice for Jedi to become guardians of new
star systems, overseeing transitions and assisting with local difficulties.

02:08, morning (H’ratth): Having worked hard to absorb and
comprehend all that Jedi Master Chamma taught him for the past two years, Andur
Sunrider succeeds more quickly than his teacher had expected. Deciding that he can
no longer instruct the Jedi, Chamma gives Sunrider several Adegan crystals, the
best gems for constructing lightsabers, to present as a gift to his new Master.
Chamma tells Andur Sunrider that he and his wife and daughter will have to go
to the world of Ambria where he training will continue under Jedi Master Thon.
Sunrider resists Chamma’s decision, remarking that he has learned enough and is
ready to join the Jedi Knights. Though the young student does not voice his
true ambitions, Chamma knows that Andur Sunrider holds an undying obsession for
defeating the darkness that had killed his grandfather, Jev Sunrider, on
Krayiss Two years before. And this selfish desire confirms Chamma’s belief that
Andur Sunrider needs more training. (note: Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi
Companion states that this occurs shortly before Andur Sunrider leaves for
Ambria)

02:13, evening (H’ratth, The Crag): On the evening
before Andur Sunrider is to leave to begin his training under Jedi Master Thon
on Ambria, Master Chamma calls him out to The Crag, a jagged pinnacle of rock
overlooking the vast lush landscape of H’ratth. Suddenly, the young man has a
vision: he is walking through a great expanse of shadow and is holding aloft a
globe of swirling white energy to light the way. His wife Nomi Sunrider, and
his infant daughter Vima, huddle at his side as he slowly ventures toward an
unseen destination. All about the trio specks of light flit about in the
darkness. Suddenly, a lance of shadow strikes from out of the surrounding
darkness, embedding itself in Andur Sunrider’s chest and knocking him to the
mist-enshrouded ground. One by one, the pinpoints of light around them shrink
and die. Andur Sunrider’s own sphere of illumination begins to fade, and he
feels himself slipping away. Straining to look up to see his wife and daughter,
he sees the fear in their eyes as they cling to one another. He realizes that
he is about to leave them behind alone to fight whatever evil had come upon
them all. Wishing he could do something for them, Andur Sunrider raises his
dying globe of light toward Nomi Sunrider, telling her to take it. She
hesitates at first, but then seizes it and holds it above her head. At that
moment the sphere burst into brilliant illumination, casting back the shadows
and highlighting her and her daughter in shimmering silhouettes. (note: Star Wars:
Tales of the Jedi Companion states that this occurs ‘on the evening Andur
was to leave’)

02:14, early morning – late morning (H’ratth): Jedi
apprentice Andur Sunrider finds himself staring at the horizon as the sun creeps
into the sky. Jedi Master Chamma is nowhere in sight. Remembering the vision
from last night in which he senses his own imminent death, Sunrider suddenly
remembers the words his grandfather, the Jedi Knight Jev Sunrider, told him 8
years before: “Do not resist the role the Force wishes you to play, for things
are not always what they seem.”
Placing his trust fully in the Force, Jedi Knight
Andur Sunrider gathers his wife Nomi Sunrider, their daughter Vima, the Duwani
Mechanical products 3DO-series Protocol/Service droid A-3DO and his few
possessions. He also takes the present of Adegan crystals which he has to give
his new Jedi Master. They board the Hoersch-Kessel Vaya-class scout ship Lightside Explorer, head toward a hyperspace
jump beacon and leap into hyperspace. (note: MD-date conjectured by the publication-date of Dark Horse Comics # 7, and Dark Horse editor Bob
Cooper’s timeline in Star Wars Insider # 26 which states that Andur
Sunrider is killed in this year)

02:15, late morning (Colonies, Stenness system): Crime lord Bogga the Hutt learns of a shipment of
Adegan crystals being transferred from the planet H’ratth to Ambria. The
crimelord needs to obtain the crystals for a mysterious, cloaked individual who
had offered to pay generously for the precious gems. Bogga cannot let such an
opportunity slip away, especially when a sudden influx of capital at this point
will enable him to overtake several border systems closer to the Galactic Core.
Such a strategic location will give him a gateway to the more wealthy
civilizations.
Bogga the Hutt makes an educated guess that a Jedi
carrying the Adegan crystals will have to stop at the Stenness hyperspace
terminal, and there the Hutt will have a trap waiting.

in the Stenness system to join Jedi Master Thon, Jedi Knight Andur Sunrider and
his family dock the Hoersch-Kessel Vaya-class
scout ship Lightside Explorer at a spaceport just outside the Stenness system. A
small group of criminals led by Bogga the Hutt discoves that Andur Sunrider
carries Adegan crystals. The Hutt crimelord orders his minions to retrieve the
precious stones. During the ambush, the Jedi Knight is killed by a poisonous
gorm-worm. Moments later, Andur Sunrider’s shimmering image appears, beckoning
his wife to take up his lightsaber and defend herself and their daughter. Nomi
Sunrider reluctantly follows her husband’s plea and destroys her attackers with
two quick slashes. The third escapes, returning to his master. As Andur
Sunrider’s image fades, he tells his wife to take the crystals to Ambria where
Jedi Master Thon will show her the direction her life will now take. At the
moment she agrees, Andur Sunrider passes into the Force forever.
Quickly, Nomi Sunrider, Vima, and the Duwani Mechanical products 3DO-series
Protocol/Service droid A-3DO board the Lightside
Explorer and leave the spaceport. Nomi Sunrider attunes herself to the Force,
concentrating on Jedi Master Thon’s presence, which seems to stand out like a
beacon against the rest of the galaxy.

02:19, morning (Colonies, Stenness system: Ambria): Having escaped from the clutches of crimelord Bogga the Hutt, the
Force-sensitive Nomi Sunrider and her daughter arrive at the ringed world of
Ambria. After having been killed by one of Bogga’s henchmen, Nomi Sunrider’s
husband, the Jedi Knight Andur Sunrider, told her to seek out Jedi Master Thon
as she is destined to become a great Jedi. The Duwani Mechanical products 3DO-series Protocol/Service droid
A-3DO remains behind with the Hoersch-Kessel Vaya-class scout ship Lightside
Explorer as Nomi Sunrider and her daughter Vima head off to find Jedi
Master Thon. Eventually, they arrive at the home of Thon, where they meet a
strange man riding a beast of burden.
Meanwhile, Bogga the Hutt has managed to follow the Lightside
Explorer, and he orders his henchmen to rip the ship apart to find the
Adegan crystals. The droid A-3DO is damaged severely during the attack.
Nomi Sunrider tells her tale to the Vultan male she encountered
and whom she believes is Jedi Master Thon, wondering why the Force did not
protect her husband. The Vultan warns that a Jedi may falter if his attention
is drawn away from his attacker. As Sunrider finishes her story, commotion
outside warns them that someone is attacking Jedi Master Thon’s herd. The
Vultan charges out to confront Bogga the Hutt and his minions. Unfortunately,
he is defeated, and Bogga orders one of his henchmen to finish off the Jedi.
Suddenly, the Vultan;s bestial companion rushes out and quickly ends the
confrontation by throwing off a forcefield that knocks the attackers back. The
Hutt and his criminal gang escape back to the Core Galaxy Systems Dreadnaught Enforcer
One, afraid of the power the creature commands. From the Vultan, who
introduces himself as Oss Wilum, Nomi Sunrider learns that the creature is the
Tchuukthai Jedi Master Thon who will instruct her in the ways of the Force.

04:13, morning – late day (Core Worlds, Alderaan system: Alderaan, near Belleau-a-Lir): The Omwati Jedi Master Tannis has come to Alderaan to
search for Force-sensitive individuals to train as Jedi Knights. She shows an
interest in two of the eight children of the Ramunee family which runs a
l’lahsh distillery in a small agricultural community on the shores of Lir Lake.
Jedi Master Tannis explains to the alarmed parents
that she is searching for Force-sensitive individuals to train. The Ramunees
realize the honor of having both Vici and her younger brother, Veni, chosen,
but they are not happy to lose their children’s help with the family business.
Vici Ramunee will start her training at the Teyan Praxeum on Teya IV this year

05:21, morning (Expansion Region: Muzara): Brentaal
League harvesters have been having bad luck with crops sowed near the dark
Kabus-Dabeh ruins. Fields downstream from the canyon entrance to the ruins have
grown dark and poisoned. Anything touching the water for very long is stained
grey. They call in the help of the Jedi stationed on Muzara.
The Jedi investigate the matter and discover the brook
flowing from the pool in the ruins has swelled. Something in the Kabus-Dabeh
ruins has increased the flow of inky water. Entering the ruins, the Jedi
discover that the pool is connected to a watery cavern beneath a pyramidal
monument. A hideous monstrosity sleeps there, only waking long enough to
consume those who fall into the trap above. Recent harvester activity nearby,
and possibly a lone Jedi’s foray into the ruins, has apparently stirred the
creature. Intent on flooding the canyon and escaping into one of Muzara’s
larger lakes to hunt, it has found the black water’s source and increased its
flow. The Jedi manage to locate the monster by triggering the trap atop the
pyramidal structure. They defeat the four-tentacled creature and find a way to
plug the flow. (note: Y-date conjectured from Star

07:24, morning (Colonies, Stenness system: Ambria): In the months since Nomi Sunrider became the apprentice of Tchuukthai Jedi
Master Thon, the great Jedi has ignored her. She begins to wonder why she has
come. Her daughter Vima rushes off, chasing a small group of neeks toward a
nearby body of water: Lake Natth. Nomi Sunrider follows and arrives at the
lake, a place tainted by evil, and finds two dark-side creatures emerging from
the water and heading toward her daughter. Sunrider envisions the two
dragon-creatures attacking each other rather than her daughter, and suddenly
the thought becomes a reality. Contemplating
what just happened, Nomi Sunrider whishes that her husband, Andur Sunrider,
were present to teach her the Jedi Way. She reminisces about her life with him,
noting his dedication both to his family and to his duty as a Jedi Knight.
Jedi Master Thon is well aware of the pain Nomi
Sunrider has been struggling with, and that is why he has left her to herself
for these months. But he also knows that she will become a great Jedi, and
decides to begin her training. (note: Star
Wars: Tales of the Jedi # 4 states that ‘months’ have passed since Nomi
Sunrider became the apprentice of Jedi Master Thon)
