Year 3,966 before the Great ReSynchronization

4,004 Standard Years before the establishment of the New Republic

(4,000 Standard Years before the Battle of Yavin)

______________________________________________________________________________

The survival of the Republic depends on two factors: wise governing by administrators and lawmakers, and the preservation of harmony and justice by the Jedi. It is a practice for Jedi to become guardians of new star systems, overseeing transitions and assisting with local difficulties.

After learning all the Sith knowledge it would offer, Amanoa entrusts an ancient dark side Holocron to Novar. The Holocron contains the essence of an ancient Sith warlord-king named Adas who had used his knowledge of the dark side to conquer and subjugate his homeworld more than two dozen millennia ago. As many Jedi are off handling other pressing conflicts, and few of his students are prepared for such a challenge, Jedi Master Ma’tien charges the 17-standard-year-old apprentice Keval Raffaan with negotiating a truce between the Muza and the Brentaal League colonists. Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi Companion (Chapter Thirteen: Ruins of Kabus-Dabeh)                                                                                          pages 152 –156 & 161 - 168

02:09, morning – late day  (Expansion Region: Muzara): The 17-standard-year-old Jedi apprentice Keval Raffaan has been charged by Jedi Master Ma’tien to negotiate a truce between Brentaal League colonists and the natives of the colony world of Muzara. After a few days in hyperspace, during which Raffaan read the Muzara information Ma’tien gave him, the Jedi apprentice arrives at Muzara. Keval Raffaan is confident in his diplomatic abilities to solve the conflict between the Muza tribes and the Human colonists.

When Keval Raffaan arrives at the Brentaal League settlement, the colony administrator and several upstanding citizens escort him to the nearby Muza encampment. The Jedi Peacemaker is brought before the clan chiefs where he is inspected carefully. The chiefs spend a moment deliberating in their own language and then announce their decision: the chief clansman explains that he must meet their standard before they accept his judgment. As a test, he has to travel to a deep-cut canyon in the north: at the end of it he will find ruins, all that is left of dark Kabus-Dabeh. They are the remnants of an ancient and evil people. The chief clansman explains that one of their bravest protectors has placed a skuhm-hide bag of metal coins somewhere in the ruin. The Jedi has to find the bag and return it: if he perseveres, he will prove his worth. If not, the Muza will not regard him as an honorable negotiator.

Accepting the test, Jedi apprentice Keval Raffaan starts hiking northward. After traveling barely a kilometer he sees the plains have been cut by a deep canyon. Following it from above, he eventually finds an entrance. Raffaan continues up the canyon. Soon, the passage opens up and crumbling ruins stand guard at the canyon’s end: he has reached Kabus-Dabeh. Entering, Keval Raffaan faces several challenges but eventually locates the bag of coins and retrieves it. Taking it back to the Muza, he has proven his worth and his peace-negotiations can begin.  (note: Y-date conjectured from Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi Companion which implies that this solitaire adventure takes place in the year of the original Tales of the Jedi comic-series. The hyperspace journey to Muzara ‘lasts a few days’)

As she travels from one world to the next, the Force vibrations given off by the animate and inanimate objects around her gradually shift from the frequencies she had become used to on her home world, and at times she become disoriented by the strangeness of her surroundings. He decided to start all over again to search for that one line he probably missed that will allow him to finally become a Jedi.

Having gone through every source a second time, Kith Kark has not found anything he had not read before. Despair replaces his anger and ambition, and the Gotal sinks into depression, for he is forbidden the single thing that will make him happy. (note: YMD-date conjectured from Kith Kark’s bio in Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi Companion which states that this event occurs a ‘year’ after Kark’s decision to restudy all the material again, as well as the age-table in Star Wars Roleplaying Game: Ultimate Alien Anthology which states that Gotal are young adults from 10 – 12 standard years old)

After nearly a year of searching, Shoaneb Culu’s travels bring her to the Jedi training center on Ossus, where she becomes the student of Jedi Master Vodo-Siosk Baas. (note: Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi Companion states that this event occurs ‘after nearly a year of searching’)

Thus, they arrange for Galia to be ‘abducted’, so the two can live together outside the city walls in the wild lands. Eventually, despair replaced his anger and ambition, and the Gotal sank into depression several months ago. He begins to wonder why he had become obsessed with being a Jedi in the first place, and he realizes that the answer to that question is the key. He begins to review all the material he had gathered on the Jedi again, this time combining it with Master Mroon Jassa’s refusals and his apprentices’ attitude. (note: YMD-date conjectured from Kith Kark’s bio in Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi Companion which states that this event occurs a ‘months’ after Kith Kark sank into a depression, as well as the age-table in Star Wars Roleplaying Game: Ultimate Alien Anthology which states that Gotal are young adults from 10 – 12 standard years old)

08:13, morning (Outer Rim Territories, Auril sector: Ossus) Having been a student of Jedi Master Vodo-Siosk Baas for several months, Miraluka apprentice Shoaneb Culu becomes increasingly frustrated, mostly because she fears that her plan to bring Jedi training to her homeworld of Alpheridies is slowly slipping from her grasp. Recognizing her gradual loss of hope, Baas dedicates himself to showing her that she has to trust in the Force: it is not for her to worry about the future. If she would only realize that her expectations were just that, and that the Force might produce a different outcome regardless of her actions, she will have no need to agonize over her potential future. 08:32, early day (Colonies, Perave system: Arkania): Deep in the wilderness, Jedi Master Arca Jeth tutors his would-be Jedi Knights, instructing them in the ways of the Force. Ulic Qel-Droma battles an old training droid in an effort to test his skill in lightsaber combat. He defeats the droid but fails to make certain it has ceased functioning. When the apprentice turns away, the droid unleashes another bolt of energy, striking Ulic Qel-Droma square in the back. Jeth voices his concern over Qel-Droma’s overconfidence.

Arca Jeth calls his students, and Ulic Qel-Droma, his younger brother Cay Qel-Droma and the Twi’lek Tott Doneeta assemble as the Jedi Master begins the tale of the world of Onderon. Jeth describes the physical attributes of the Onderon system, and continues with the history of Onderon: once per year, the atmosphere of Dxun, one of Onderon’s four moons, touches the planet’s atmosphere, allowing the bestial creatures of the moon to cross over and prey on the peaceful inhabitants of Onderon. In reaction to this annual scourge, the Onderonians constructed the massive, walled city of Iziz. Jeth tells his apprentices that everything outside Iziz’s walla remains a savage wilderness: as punishment, criminals were released into the outlands, and quickly fell prey to the beasts of Dxun. In time, however, the outcasts formed huge armies of beast-riders and began to attack the city. To this day, Onderon remains a divided planet, the fierce war between the beast-riders and Iziz continually escalating as technology advances.

Jedi Master Arca Jeth explains that he has accepted the role of Jedi watchman over the Onderon worlds, and charges his students with helping the citizens end the centuries-long war. He reminds them that the Jedi stand for peace; they must use their weapons only as a last resort. (note: MD-date conjectured by the publication-date of Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi # 1)

08:34, late morning – late day (Inner Rim, Stenness sector: Onderon): Three Jedi apprentices, Ulic Qel-Droma, his younger brother Cay Qel-Droma, and the Twi’lek Jedi Tott Doneeta, arrive on the recently-discovered world of Onderon to mediate in the centuries-long Beast Wars of Onderon. As the Corellia StarDrive Coruscant-class heavy courier Nebulon Ranger streaks through the atmosphere toward the sprawling city of Iziz, Cay Qel-Droma picks up a flight of giant birds vectoring for the ship. After a moment, he realizes that they are beast-riders. Deciding not to fire upon the incoming swarm of beasts, the Jedi hail Iziz and request landing instructions. As the city’s forces launch an assault against the beast-riders, Nebulon Ranger sets down at the Royal Space Dock.

In the royal palace’s throne room, Queen Amanoa is interrogating a prisoner by the name of Olis who prophecizes that the city of Iziz will fall as it cannot withstand the pressure of the dark side for much longer. Enraged, Amanoa tells him that if he does not share his knowledge, he will be cast out of the city. When the half-dead man locks his gaze with her, she raises her hand: suddenly, a green brilliance flares from her hand, forming a ball of crackling, swirling energy. Reamrking that expelling him into the wilds is too good for him, she hurls the glowing sphere and the radiant ball strikes Olis square in the chest, killing him instantly. Slipping back in her throne, Amanoa watches as a guard removes Olis’ remains. Turning to one of her attendants, she tells him to bring the three Jedi visitors to het throne room at once.

At the Royal Space Dock, the three Jedi apprentices are welcomed by the Onderonian Minister of State, Novar. Upon seeing Tott Doneeta, Novar orders the Royal Protectors to bring Twi’lek Jedi to the immigration area for interrogation. Just before an altercation develops between the Jedi and the Royal Protectors, Queen Amanoa’s orders to bring the three Jedi to the throne room immediately are relayed to Novar.

Queen Amanoa is surprised to find three Jedi students rather than the great Jedi Master she had expected. She quickly introduces her daughter, Galia, and informs the new arrivals of the city’s troubles. Suddenly, beast-riders burst through the translucent dome that houses the throne room. The Jedi and the Royal Protectors battle the intruders as Queen Amanoa and her daughter retreat into the hears of the Royal Palace. Several beast-warrior commandos break away from the main attack group and head after them. Cay Qel-Droma and Tott Doneeta pursue the commandos as Ulic Qel-Droma fends off the remaining beast-riders. The beast-rider commandos kill several guards and subdue Princess Galia, escaping as Queen Amanoa attempts to call down the power of Freedon Nadd upon them. When Qel-Droma and Doneeta arrive, they find Galia missing and the Queen slumped on the floor. Ulic Qel-Droma, ignoring the protests of his fellow Jedi, vows to rescue the princess from the beast-riders.

The three Jedi set to the skies in the Nebulon Ranger, training their sensors on the escaping beast-riders while the Onderonians muster their own rescue mission. Suddenly, Cay Qel-Droma realizes that the beast-riders have launched a seeker-torpedo at their ship. Before the Jedi can bring up the ship’s shields, the torpedo slams into the hull. The Nebulon Ranger spirals across the sky. The three Jedi manage to use the vessel’s deflectors to cushion the crash landing. After assessing the ship’s damage, they exit the vessel to find themselves deep in the wild jungles of Onderon, just outside the domes and towers of an immense stronghold. Suddenly, two boma beasts, gargantuan predators, rise up to confront Tott Doneeta. Using his Jedi ability to understand beast-languages, the Twi’lek Jedi apprentice manages to befriend the creatures. He and the Qel-Droma brothers mount the boma beasts and charge toward the beast-riders’ stronghold.

The Jedi storm into the middle of a marriage ceremony between beast-lord Oron Kira and Princess Galia. While Cay Qel-Droma and Tott Doneeta deflect anyone trying to stop them, Ulic Qel-Droma grabs Galia and attempts to escape. Galia, however, does not wish to be rescued: apparently, she and the beast-riders devised the abduction plan to extract her from the walled city of Iziz for the wedding ceremony. Oron Kira, his father Modon Kira, and Galia go on to explain that Iziz has fallen under the pall of the dark side, ever since Freedon Nadd brought it to Onderon over four centuries ago: anyone who dared challenge the dark side was cast out of the city as a criminal. Modon Kira warns the Jedi that all of the beast-lords of the wilderness have begun preparing for a final battle to overthrow the city. He asks them to help rid Onderon of the darkness. Ulic Qel-Droma, however, sees another way: he wants to reveal the marriage to Queen Amanoa and try to work out a peaceful solution. The beast-riders agree to make the attempt, but only if the Jedi promise to help in the war against the dark side if their plan fails. Ulic Qel-Droma agrees.

Cay Qel-Droma returns to the Nebulon Ranger, beginning repairs of the downed vessel. (note: MD-date conjectured by the hyperspace travelchart as published in Wizards of the Coasts´ Star Wars Roleplaying Game: Revised Core Rulebook)
