The survival of the Republic depends on two factors:
wise governing by administrators and lawmakers, and the preservation of harmony
and justice by the Jedi. It is a practice for Jedi to become guardians of new
star systems, overseeing transitions and assisting with local difficulties.

Chronology, pages 8 & 9)

01:16, morning (Colonies, Truuine system: Truuine) Having made up his mind that he wants to join Jedi Master Mroon Jassa’s
training compound on Truuine, the Force-sensitive Gotal Kith Kark has spent
every spare moment learning of the Jedi from any source he could get his hands
on: from ancient historical texts to questionable documents supposedly
detailing the meaning of the Jedi Way.
When he has exhausted every possible avenue of
knowledge, he returns to Truuine, confident that Master Jassa will admit him.
When he arrives at the training compound near Truuine’s northern pole, he sees
the Jedi apprentices he had met a year before, practicing with lightsabers,
cycling through several series of preordained movements. But Jedi Master Mroon
Jassa treats him exactly as he had done during their first encounter and turns
him away. For the second time, the Gotal leaves, filled with anger. (note: YMD-date conjectured from Kith Kark’s bio in Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi Companion which states
that this event occurs a ‘year’ after Kark’s initial encounter with the Jedi
Master, as well as the age-table in Star Wars Roleplaying Game: Ultimate
Alien Anthology which states that Gotal are young adults from 10 – 12
standard years old)

05:18, morning (Colonies, Prindaar system: Antar 4) Having
made up his mind that he wants to join the Jedi Knight, Kith Kark has already
been send away twice by Jedi Master Mroon Jassa. Although he did study any
source he could get his hands on for over a year to learn more about the Jedi,
the Gotal comes to the conclusion that he must have missed something. He
decides to start all over again to search for that one line he probably missed
that will allow him to finally become a Jedi. (note: YMD-date conjectured from Kith Kark’s bio in Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi Companion which states
that this event occurs a ‘few months’ after Kark’s second encounter with Mroon
Jassa, as well as the age-table in Star Wars Roleplaying Game: Ultimate
Alien Anthology which states that Gotal are young adults from 10 – 12 standard
years old)

06:27, day (Expansion
Region, Abron system: Alpheridies): Against
her parents’ wishes, Shoaneb Culu leaves her homeworld behind to seek
membership in the Jedi Knights. She vows to return one day to establish a Jedi
training compound on Alpheridies so that others will not have to leave the
world to learn about the Jedi Way. She hopes this will increase the number of
Miraluka who wish to become Jedi. (note: Y-date conjectured from Shoaneb Culu’s bio in Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi Companion)

06:34, sunset (Outer Rim
Territories, Auril sector: Ossus): Jedi
apprentice Shaela Nuur has finished crafting an elegant lightsaber. When she
shows it to her master, the ancient Neti Jedi Master Ood Bnar commends her on
her excellent work and remarks that all it needs now is the final focusing
crystal. He opens a small box and takes out the Solari, which is one of the
oldest crystals of the Jedi Order. When she realizes that the crystal is for
her lightsaber, a surprised Nuur remarks that she does not know if she is
worthy of such an honor. But Bnar explains that if she were not, he would not
bequeath it to her. The Jedi Master explains that she is his most promising
student: he has complete faith in her and her spirit. He further explains that
only a Jedi who is pure in light side spirit can use the Solari crystal which
cannot be corrupted. Bnar tells her that she will accomplish great things in
her lifetime: but she has to remember to always stay in the light. (note:
conjecture based on the appearance of Shaela Nuur in the comic-short Shadows
and Light)

07:22, day (Inner
Rim, Stenness sector: Onderon, Iziz): Under the
apprenticeship of the ruler of the walled city of Iziz, Queen Amanoa, Minister of
State Novar grows in power as she guides him through the next levels of Sith
technique. Novar has now become a minor dark side wizard. At Amanoa’s orders,
Novar begins selecting others to join their new Sith society. (note:

07:16, day (Core
Worlds): Tallov Kersk and his brother-in-law
Karn pool their resources and purchase space aboard a Brentaal League colony
ship for themselves and their family. They also lease a massive treaded
harvester. Kersk’s dream is to make the wild planet Muzara fertile, producing
food for League settlements burgeoning on nearby systems. If Muzara can be
tamed, it will be an ideal place to raise their children, far away from the
bustling Core Worlds with their crowded starports and conniving politicians. (note:

08:28, morning (Expansion Region: Muzara): Brentaal
League colonists arrive on Muzara, a small world in the Expansion Region
covered with verdant plains, wide mesas and rough-hewn canyons. The settlers
begin to establish a base atop one of the massive plateaus where they can
oversee the agricultural enterprises planned for the world. The Brentaal League
intends to produce food on Muzara for export to nearby settlements which are
not yet self-sufficient. (note: Y-date conjectured from Star
Wars: Tales of the Jedi Companion which states that the first settlers
arrived ‘a few months ago’)

09:13, day (Inner
Rim, Stenness sector: Onderon, Iziz): Having
become a minor dark side wizard under the apprenticeship of Queen Amanoa, the
ruler of the walled city of Iziz, Minister of State Novar begins instructing
several new students in the basic principles and philosophies of the dark
aspect of the Force. Those who prove themselves worthy progress to the next
stage of training, wherein their instructions will come from an ancient dark
side Holocron that Queen Amanoa had discovered less than a decade before. The
Holocron contains the essence of an ancient Sith warlord-king named Adas who
had used his knowledge of the dark side to conquer and subjugate his homeworld
more than two dozen millennia ago. (note:

09:25, late morning (Colonies, Stenness system): Recently, Pirate-Captain Finhead Stonebone, commander
of the modified Byblos Drive Yards E-2 asteroid
miner Starjacker, became
embroiled in a conflict with Bogga the Hutt, the vicious crime lord who
dominates the Stenness Node. At first, Stonebone struck a deal with Bogga: he
would harass ore-haulers passing through the area so that their captains, and
the corporations for which they worked, would be forced to go to the crime lord
for protection. Unfortunately, Bogga the Hutt decides to alter the agreement
after Stonebone had performed his part of the bargain: rather than letting the
pirate score an occasional booty, the Hutt’s advanced guard starts to intercept
the marauder ships on every attack, forcing Stonebone in a state of negative
cash flow and starships desperately in need of repair.

had used his knowledge of the dark side to conquer and subjugate his homeworld
more than two dozen millennia ago.
The initiates have gathered deep in the twisting
passageways of Onderon’s undercity. Entering a domed chamber carved from the
red-streaked gray stone of the world’s crust, they spread out around a wooden
table carved into the image of a mythological Onderonian giant. Novar places a
pyramidal construct engraved with thousands of tiny designs onto the table,
bowing his head toward the Holocron. Suddenly, a stream of blue-green
translucent mist spills from the top of the pyramid, forming into a slowly
shifting cloud and then quickly into a silhouette of a warrior clad in spiked
armor and wearing a silver circlet atop his head. Warlord-king Adas asks Novar
why he has disturbed him. Novar replies that they are ready for his wisdom.
Snorting in derision as he surveys the ring of robed onlookers, Adas remarks
that he does not waste his teachings on the weak. Novar points out that these
initiates are the best of their ranks: they have fulfilled the requirements
necessary to advance to the nexy level, and they are all ready and willing to
offer their lives to the dark side. After a short silence, Adas remarks that he
will teach them, but warns Novar that if any of them fail him in any way, he
will find a way to take it out on him. It takes a moment for Novar to fully
absorb the statement, and another to calm himself enough to respond that he
accepts the responsibility. (note: YMD-date conjectured from Novar’s

10:22, late day (Expansion Region: Muzara): Recently,
Brentaal League colonists arrived on Muzara, a small world in the Expansion
Region covered with verdant plains, wide mesas and rough-hewn canyons. Now,
immense harvester crawlers ply the savannas. These giant machines till the soil
and sow crops in the spring, and collect and process the produce in the fall.
Each harvester is run by several families who have purchased rights from the
Brentaal League to raise crops on vast territories staked out on the Muzaran
plains.
Tallov Kersk and his brother-in-law Karn stand beside
the family harvester, smoke wafting up from one of the immense heavy-duty tread
assemblies. Up in the control cabin, their wives are busily shutting the rest
of the harvester down to conserve their power supply. Kersk’s son Vettle and
Karn’s daughter Cavvie had come with them down the lower inspection hatch
stairway and run off to explore a lone tree standing on a nearby rise.
Tallov Kersk surveys the track hanging loose from the
tread assembly as he is interrupted by shouts from the children. Vettle and
Cavvie run over from the tree, pointing to the horizon. Kersk pulls his
macrobinoculars from the belt case and brings them to his eyes. Through the
dust he sees hundreds, maybe thousands of bulky aliens dragging sledges piled
with supplies, tents and other gear. Tallov Kersk had heard Muzara was home to
nomadic tribes that roam the savannas, but so far few settlers had encountered
them. Kersk tells his son to get the blaster rifles. (note:

Bogga the Hutt is not pleased by Finhead Stonebone’s
actions and orders the capture of the pirate and any of his crew. But Stonebone
has several hidden holdouts within the Stenness Node and in surrounding space,
and Bogga and his minions will have difficulty locating the pirate band.
