Month 1

Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi Companion (Chapter Two: The Jedi: Qrrl Toq)                                                                                                                                        page 29

01:18, day (Mid Rim: Nazzri): The Nazzar male Qrrl Toq begins to study the last of the 14 vens of the Great Structure of the Ulizra, the state-enforced religion. Without fail he impresses his teachers at every level, and whispers throughout the palace and the praefectory say that young Toq might become the first king-praefect since the institution of the theocracy. Qrrl Toq does not attempt to hide his pleasure at such a possibility and forces everyone, save his father, to address him as Crown prince Qrrl Toq. To him it seems only right that a person of his station be called by his full title by those of lesser status, which in his case includes the entire population of Nazzri. (note: YMD-date conjectured by Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi Companion which states that Qrrl Toq studies each ven ‘for a period of exactly one Nazzri year’ which I conjectured to be as long as a Standard year)

02:13, early morning (Core Worlds, Alderaan system: Alderaan) The Jedi mother of Ulic and Cay Qel-Droma decides that he sons are old enough to begin their Jedi training. The two boys grew up on Alderaan under the shadow of their Jedi mother, a strict parent and teacher who instructed her children well in all matters of the universe, except the Force. She believed that she could not maintain the proper distance required between student and master when it comes to her sons. She tells her sons that she has arranged for them to become apprentices of Jedi Master Arca Jeth on the remote world of Arkania, for she believes that their close relationship with her, coupled with the distractions of Alderaan, prevents the two of them from growing stronger in the Force.

When their mother prepares to send the two boys to Jedi Master Arca Jeth’s training compound on the Colonies’ world of Arkania, she worries that one son might outshine the other and create a deep rivalry between brothers who had always held great love for one another. She voices her fear to the youngest, Cay Qel-Droma, and he dismisses her worries with a laugh, remarking that he knows nothing can sever the close relationship he and his brother share.

03:22, day (Mid Rim: Nazzri): The Nazzar male Qrrl Toq studies the 14 vens of the Great Structure of the Ulizra. Without fail he impresses his teachers at every level, and whispers throughout the palace and the praefectory say that young Toq might become the first king-praefect since the institution of the theocracy. As Qrrl Toq sees himself rising ever closer toward a role as king-praefect, he intensifies his studies, delving deeper into the ancient mysteries of the Great Structure. He believes that the Nazzar have grown away from the initial objectives of the theocracy, and he wishes to discover the intentions of his founding forebears. Qrrl Toq sees it as his destiny to reestablish the original beliefs and philosophy of the religion, and thereby bring Nazzri to a state of peace unheard of since the evolution of the theocracy from the falling remains of the ancient monarchy over a millennia before. On one of his nightly excursions into the Hall of Edification, Qrrl Toq comes upon a dust-caked tome that had fallen behind one of the massive shelving cases: the text contains poems, journal entries, and historical data, all scribed from various sources and compiled into a single document that focuses on the last of the monarchs, an ancestor of Toq named Prrit Qabaq. Qrrl begins to read through the thousand-page book. 06:17, day (Mid Rim: Nazzri): The Nazzar male Qrrl Toq, begins learning the 14 vens of the Great Structure of the Ulizra. He begins to study the last ven of the state-enforced religion. Without fail he impresses his teachers at every level, and whispers throughout the palace and the praefectory say that young Toq might become the first king-praefect since the institution of the theocracy. Qrrl read through the thousand-page book in two and a half days, stopping only briefly for sustenance: the text coneys the story of how Emperor-King Qabaq had singlehandedly destroyed the moarchy by delving into dark magicks. He was eventually killed by his own daughter, Ikree Qabaq, who afterwards proposed a government based on the tenets of the Great Structure of the Ulizra.

Finishing the book, Qrrl Toq realizes that he can never rival the greatest of the monarch-praefects, for he merely follows in their footsteps. The young Nazzar decides that he needs to break new ground, and to do that he would have to enter into boqeri, a form of self-imposed exile taken to seek spiritual truth, so that he might come to understand the nature of being better than any who preceded him. (note: YMD-date conjectured by Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi Companion which states that Qrrl Toq ‘read through the thousand-page book in two and a half days’)
