The survival of the Republic depends on two factors: wise
governing by administrators and lawmakers, and the preservation of harmony and
justice by the Jedi. It is a practice for Jedi to become guardians of new star
systems, overseeing transitions and assisting with local difficulties.

02:15, early morning (Inner Rim, Stenness sector: Onderon, Iziz): The Human male Novar is born into one of the wealthiest families of the
walled city of Iziz. (note: YMD-date conjectured from Novar’s bio in Star

08:17, day (Outer
Rim Territories, Auril sector: Ossus) Over the
years, the Nelori Marauders have grown more bold, attacking Republic-aligned
trade ships and raiding Republic member worlds deeper and deeper in the Core.
Striking from out of their secret base in the Hyabb-Twith Corridor, a disputed
parsec on the spinward arc of the Core that has been embroiled in conflict
since the birth of the Republic, the Nelori Marauders realize that neither the
Hyabb nor the Twith government will risk the other’s wrath by sending patrol
ships into the disputer territory.
Now, as the number of dead Republic citizens continue
to rise, the Jedi have called for an emergency meeting at the Jedi stronghold
and training center on Ossus. There, the assembled Jedi Masters create and
launch a task force to intercept the encroaching Marauders and destroy the
murderous band of outlaws once and for all. (note: date conjectured from Arca
Jeth’s bio in Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi

08:26, early morning – late day (Core Worlds, Hyabb-Twith Corridor: Voon) Over the years, the Nelori Marauders have grown more
bold, attacking Republic-aligned trade ships and raiding Republic member worlds
deeper and deeper in the Core. Striking from out of their secret base in the
Hyabb-Twith Corridor, a disputed parsec on the spinward arc of the Core that
has been embroiled in conflict since the birth of the Republic, the Nelori
Marauders realize that neither the Hyabb nor the Twith government will risk the
other’s wrath by sending patrol ships into the disputer territory. Recently,
the Jedi assembled a task force to intercept the encroaching Marauders and
destroy the murderous band of outlaws once and for all.
Two dozen Jedi warriors pursue several Nelori
Marauders ships into the Hyabb-Twith Corridor and attack their base on the
planet Voon. The Jedi manage to obliterate or otherwise damage a majority of
the Marauders’ ships before reinforcements from nearby bases arrive and drive
them back in a vicious counter-assault. Only five Jedi survive the encounter,
but the bulk of the Nelori fleet is destroyed, relegating further
confrontations to ground-based battles. (note: date conjectured from Arca
Jeth’s bio in Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi

08:28, dawn – early day (Core
Worlds, Hyabb-Twith Corridor: Voon) Over the
years, the Nelori Marauders have grown more bold, attacking Republic-aligned
trade ships and raiding Republic member worlds deeper and deeper in the Core.
Recently, the Jedi assembled a task force to
intercept the encroaching Marauders and destroy the murderous band of outlaws
once and for all.
Thirty more Jedi Knights arrive to join their brethren
for an all-out planet-side attack now that the Nelori Marauders’ fleet has been
destroyed. To gain the element of surprise, the Jedi silently slice through the
world’s atmosphere in sleek, weaponless transports, each specially rigged with
counter-sensor arrays and low-output power compensators for maximum stealth.
The Jedi drop on the broad, stepped roof of the Nelori stronghold, where the
Marauders had gathered the remainder of their forces from throughout the
Hyabb-Twith Corridor. Within moments, the Jedi infiltrate the stronghold and
search the topmost levels to find nothing. At that moment, one of the Jedi,
Arca Jeth, has a sudden inspiration and reaches out with the Force to search
the lowest levels of the stronghold for signs of life. To his dismay, he finds
nothing. But retaining the strong feeling that the Nelori had not abandoned
their fortress, he probes deeper, pushing past the Voon surface into the empty
subterranean pockets that litter the world’s crust: he senses a morass of life
tangled and intertwined in a way he had never sensed before.
Following his Jedi senses, Arca Jeth leads his Jedi
companions downward through hollow hallways and wide spiral staircases,
eventually arriving at a rough-hewn, sloped passageway that descends into
darkness. Jeth assigns two Jedi to remain on the ground level of the fortress
while the rest ventures into the subterranean levels. The tunnel curves into a
spiral 100 standard meters down. When a standard hour has passed with no hint
of the Nelori, some of the Jedi begin to question Jeth’s feeling. The Jedi
Knight remarks that he is surprised his fellow Jedi do not sense it. With that,
the accusations begin to come seemingly without effort: statements of blame
that force everyone into positions of defense.
And then, in the midst of the sudden confrontation,
the Jedi all fall silent as a tendril of darkness slithers past their hearts.
They quickly turn outward, scanning the cavernous chamber they are in. Without
warning, the walls come alive: the rock crumbles, falling in huge chunks and
smashing on the floor, throwing slivers of stone shrapnel in every direction.
Four Jedi are killed instantly while the rest scatters, taking their downed
companions out of danger. Thirty seconds later, more than two hundred Nelori
attack in full force.
Jedi Knight Arca Jeth leaps forward immediately to
confront the onrushing murderers, disarming three and killing one in the first
few seconds of the furious assault. His fellow Jedi form a ring of defenders
around their fallen companions. The battle does not go well for the Jedi as
slowly their numbers dwindle. Arca Jeth realizes that they have no hope for
survival. And as that eventuality settles in his mind, he becomes aware of the
ferocity of his attacks: something has caused him to abandon his training, to
shun the Force and rely on his own emotion. Even as he continues to counter his
enemies’ attacks, he changes his focus, forming an image of victory in his mind
and offering it to the Force. And with a swift suddenness, the tide of the
battle changes as the light side sweeps across the battlefield, strengthening
the remaining Jedi and weakening the Marauders.
The Jedi Knights are victorious, but their success is
tempered by the loss of half of their force. (note: date conjectured from Arca Jeth’s bio in Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi Companion which states
that this occurs ‘less than two days’ after the Nelori fleet was destroyed)

09:17, morning (Core Worlds, Hyabb-Twith Corridor) Weeks ago, the Jedi, under the command of Jedi Knight Arca Jeth, began
to chase down the remainder of the Nelori Marauder forces who were scattered
throughout the Hyabb-Twith Corridor. Now they place the last of the Marauders
under arrest, destroying the Nelori sphere of control forever. (note: date

the Nelori takes place ‘over the ensuing weeks’)
